What is a vasectomy?

A vasectomy is a minor, minimally invasive surgical procedure that blocks the vas deferens, preventing sperm from reaching the semen. Erections, ejaculation, and testosterone production continue as normal.

Vasectomies are nearly 100% effective at preventing pregnancy starting at least two months after the procedure. We’ll monitor your results with follow-up semen analyses, so you know when you’re protected.

Is a Vasectomy Right for Me?

A vasectomy is a safe, highly effective form of permanent birth control for men who are confident they don't want to have children in the future or have completed their families. The procedure is minimally invasive, typically performed in an outpatient setting, and involves a relatively short recovery period.

Unlike other forms of birth control, a vasectomy offers a long-term solution without ongoing medications or maintenance. It also does not affect testosterone levels, sex drive, or sexual performance.

Typically within 7 days, as long as you're feeling comfortable. Use backup contraception to prevent pregnancy until your follow-up semen test confirms the absence of sperm.
