This female infertility treatment involves a series of shots containing hormones that specifically stimulate ovarian follicles to produce more than one mature egg at once for use with insemination or in egg retrieval during IVF or egg freezing.
One of the most common causes of female infertility is irregular ovulation. Specific oral medications in pill form can assist in stimulating the ovaries, a fertility treatment known as ovulation induction.
Surgical procedures, such as laparoscopy or hysteroscopy, diagnose and treat endometriosis, uterine polyps, and abnormalities in the uterus or fallopian tubes. Other types of surgery can also be beneficial in treating infertility.
More than two consecutive miscarriages may be due to chromosomal or hormonal issues, infections, autoimmune disease or blood disorders. Specific blood studies or genetic evaluations can help diagnose the cause.
