Dallas IVF Shines a Spotlight on Hollywood and Infertility

Women in Hollywood seem to have it all. Fame, fortune and the ability to have children well into their 40s and 50s. It might seem miraculous, but many of these celebrities have built their families with help from infertility treatments. Whether they’re receiving treatment for advanced maternal age or conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), stars really are just like us. Hollywood and infertility stories don’t always make headlines, but 1 in 7 couples struggle with starting a family (even in La La Land).

There is a long list of examples that link Hollywood and infertility

Our DFW fertility clinic team wants you to know that many of the beautiful faces in Hollywood have had children with help from infertility treatments like IVF and surrogacy.

While most middle-aged celebrities look like they’re in their 20s or 30s, they still have the eggs of a woman in her 40s or 50s. As for the younger starlets, they’re just as likely to experience fertility issues as any other woman. Here’s a look at just a few of the celebrities in Hollywood and fertility struggles that are real:

  • Tyra Banks underwent several rounds of IVF before welcoming her son via surrogacy.
  • Chrissy Teigen conceived with IVF, choosing to select the sex of her first baby (a girl!) using PGS. She and husband John Legend have one more embryo, and she tweeted about adding a baby boy to the family one day.
  • Jaime King suffered from miscarriages as well as undiagnosed PCOS and endometriosis. The actress and her husband now have two children, with help from IVF.
  • Elizabeth Banks and her husband opted for gestational surrogacy after experiencing embryo implantation issues. The couple is now the proud parents of two boys.
  • Mariah Carey discussed using progesterone to get pregnant with her twins.
  • Celine Dion and her husband became pregnant with twins after six rounds of IVF.

Celebrities have the opportunity to raise awareness about fertility issues

The physicians at our DFW fertility clinic admire the famous women who have chosen to speak honestly about their fertility struggles.

According to Brian D. Barnett, M.D., “By speaking about their experience with fertility treatments, these women are raising infertility awareness and showing other women that they aren’t alone.”
